Audit Manager
Ashfaq joined Wisteria in February 2026 as a Manager in the Audit & Assurance department.
Ashfaq is an ACCA member with nine years of audit experience, managing engagements for UK and international businesses across a broad range of sectors. With a degree in Accounting and Finance, specialising in Forensic Accounting, Ashfaq brings a considered and commercially focused approach to audit, working closely with clients to deliver an efficient, responsive and high-quality service.
What led you to pursue a career in your current role, and how did you get started in the field?
I was drawn to audit because it provides the opportunity to understand businesses in depth while combining technical accounting, commercial awareness and regular client interaction. I began my audit career with BDO and progressed by taking responsibility for increasingly complex engagements, managing audit teams and developing trusted relationships with clients across a variety of sectors.
What do you enjoy most about your job, and what do you find most challenging?
I enjoy working closely with clients, understanding their businesses and helping to make the audit process clear, focused and well managed. I also value the variety that comes from working with different sectors, ownership structures and financial reporting matters. Managing multiple engagements, competing deadlines and unexpected issues can be challenging, but it is also rewarding to bring clients and the audit team together, maintain momentum and deliver every engagement to a high standard.
What do you believe are the most important qualities for success in your current role, and how do you strive to embody those qualities in your work?
I believe success comes down to people. The relationships I build with clients and my team are what genuinely make the work successful. When a client trusts you, they let you in properly, and that's when you can add real value rather than simply ticking boxes. The same applies to my team - the more I invest in their development and encourage collaboration, the stronger the team and the quality of our work become.
