Choosing your Service Address

When incorporating a new company you will be asked to supply a service address for the company’s directors. Similarly, when completing the Annual Return for an existing company, Companies House require that the service address be confirmed for all directors.

The service address refers to the address that is publically available for each director. This address is collected separately from a director’s residential address, which Companies House will also collect but will keep private. However, if the service address chosen is the same as the residential address, the residential address will be publically available.

Often directors choose to make their registered office address their service address so that all correspondence for the company is received at their business address and their personal address remains private. Where the company is run from a residential property often a registered office service will be used to protect a director’s privacy.
